TAS05: CHITA, RUSSIA. JULY 16. Gold (in pic) extracted by prospectors of workmen’s cooperative association Baldzha in Transbaikal Area, one of Russia’s oldest gold mining territories. The association plans to mine 600 kg of gold this year compared to 542 kg in 2002. The Baldzha extracts the preciuos metal from deserted old fields where powerful gold dredge systems had operated. Now the prospectors are mining gold at greater depth, sometimes up to 18 metres deep. (Photo ITAR-TASS / Yevgeny Yepanchintsev) —— ÒÀÑ 02. Ðîññèÿ. ×èòèíñêàÿ îáëàñòü. 16 èþëÿ.
